Freedom from Torture, formerly the Medical Foundation for the Care of Victims of Torture, has been working for 25 years to provide direct clinical services to survivors of torture who arrive in the UK as well as striving to protect and promote their rights. Since its inception, over 50,000 individuals have been referred for help. Thanks to the dedication of staff and volunteers – as well as scores of passionate supporters and funders – thousands of torture survivors have been able to rebuild their lives in incredibly difficult circumstances.

LGBT History Month is an excellent opportunity for organisations and individuals, local community groups or national partnerships to highlight their own and others histories in an LGBT context. It is also an opportunity for LGBT people and their families to tell their stories on what life was like for LGBT people in Scotland before LGBT equality was in the public consciousness and their continued personal and political struggles.

It's an opportunity for remembrance, celebration & debate and discussion around the continued struggle for LGBT liberation.
